Fire from both sides in the Valley

National Institute of Technology, Srinagar is finally finding some peace. But, another set of disturbed clouds have managed to cover various districts of Kashmir now.

During the past one week, five young souls of Kashmir have lost their lives. One of them was a student of class 11. Another one was a budding cricketer. All of them were protesting against a jawan of Rashtriya Rifles who has been accused of molesting a young girl.

The protests went violent, people threw stones at the army and its camps. To control the uncontrollable protests the security forces had to open fire. People died, many got injured and more anger spread which resulted in more protests and more fire and more deaths.

The army says that the molestation allegations are false. They have also released a video in which the girl has apparently said that she was molested by a young boy and not an army jawan.

The protesting people of Kashmir on the other hand, are saying that the security forces harassed the young girl and her family to make this statement.

Honestly, I don’t know who is right or who is wrong. But, I do know that young lives are being lost here and this is not the first time it is happening in the valley. A lot of people in Kashmir feel that they don’t belong to the country. By indulging in such acts we are in a way assuring them that what they feel is right.

Just try to understand the psychology of a young Kashmiri. All their lives they have been made to believe that their country is not taking good care of them. Now, if we kill their own people, their own friends, and their own neighbors then we are in a lot of ways adding fuel to the burning fire of hatred in their hearts.

Signing off with the feeling of helplessness. Please god, Bless our dear Kashmir.
