Sharma family lived in a house called Shanti Niwas (Home of Peace), which was ironic considering how bitter and conflicted their lives were. The situation was worrisome to the entire clan because it didn’t let any servant survive in the house. But one fine day they found a cook, Raghu (played by Rajesh Khanna) and the environment of Shanti Niwas changed for good. This is the plot of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film, Bawarchi.
The movie is a perfect combination of comedy, drama and some suspense (to figure that out you should watch the film). It had some great actors like Jaya Bachan, Asrani, A.K. Hangal and many more.
What pulled the film together was its simple dialogues, written by Gulzar. Madan Mohan developed the music which was beautifully made in correlation to Kaifi Azmi’s lyrics.
Bawarchi was one of the creations of Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The same man who gave Indian cinema legendary movies like Anand, Abhimaan and Chupke Chupke. It’s tragic that a movie as good as Bawarchi is not remembered by many.
I am not good with reviews, tried this one to do my bit and make people aware of this movie. Its Sunday today, if you have some time, consider watching Bawarchi.
