Bitter Truth: India Is NOT The Greatest.

Today, I am not so proud to be an Indian. I know I’ll be judged, but at least I am true to myself. My nation is walking on the wrong path and I don’t want to just sit and watch because my love for my country isn’t blind. I am honest enough to accept the bitter truth that India isn’t a great nation. Our history was great but we can’t keep boasting about the past when our present is so fucked up.

So guess what caught my attention while surfing the channels today? Australian cricket star, Brett Lee was on the popular television show, Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain! The never ending AFSPA

Armed Forces Special Powers Acts (AFSPA) grants special powers to the Indian Armed Forces in “disturbed areas”. Many things have gone and are continuing to go wrong since the existence of this act. The alleged rape case of a 32-year-old woman named Thangjam Manorama in Manipur (2004) and the recent destruction in Kashmir caused after…

Take a flat, take some money and vanish.

Every day women are raped in India. Many of them don’t come out because they fear the society and many prefer to stay silent because they know that the world will let them down.  Can we blame them ? No, we can’t. Because we don’t even ensure that the women who try to fight their…

Happy Birthday Munshi Premchand

I was talking to my father about Munshi Premchand. Today’s Google doodle is inspired by his story Godaan. After a minute or two my dad asked if I had read any of the stories by Premchand. I was embarrassed to answer that I had not. But this embarrassment will end tonight. I’ll be reading one…

Hrishikesh Mukherjee also made Bawarchi!

Sharma family lived in a house called Shanti Niwas (Home of Peace), which was ironic considering how bitter and conflicted their lives were. When you are unhappy with life then every day appears to be a struggle. Every step that you take makes you feel that your entire body is nothing less than a burden. Sleep becomes your best friend, your quilt replaces your boyfriend and those pillows on the bed give you the same comfort that once…

Sulking doesn’t help.

Sometimes all you wanna do in life is to lock yourself up in a room and get away from this world. You don’t want to see any face, you don’t want to hear any voice, you just want to sleep or go through all the channels on your TV. This is just a temporary escape…

We Can’t Forget His Birthday

“Dekhi zamane ki yari, bichhade sabhi bari-bari”, may be Guru Dutt had foreseen this years ago and that is why these words became a part of his biopic Kagaz k phool (1959). Today I would like to add another line to this song “Bhoole sabhi baari baari”. It is Guru Dutt’s 91st birthday today and…

So Called Rules of Dating

Don’t message him, you will look desperate. Don’t call her, she will think that you are all into her. Don’t call him, men don’t like easy targets. Chase her, girls like the attention. Bla bla Bla bla bla. I really want to know who made these rules. Why on earth have we made the ‘full…

A ray of hope for Chibok girls
